Code of conduct
Sherborne St John Social Club (“SSJSC”, “the Club”) has adopted a Code of Conduct that sets out the standards, values and behaviour expected by all members and visitors to SSJSC.
Members are responsible for understanding and abiding by the Club Rules and Code of Conduct. Members are also responsible for the behaviour of their guests and must ensure they understand and adhere to the Code of Conduct during their visit to the Club.
Expected Standards of General Conduct
Members, guests, staff and visitors should:
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all attendees of the Club regardless of age, race, gender, culture, or religion, and offer equal opportunity to use the Club.
Respect and treat all fellow members, guests, staff, and visitors of the Club equally.
Respect and be considerate of our neighbours and all those who live nearby the Club’s property.
Behave responsibly and not act in a manner which may damage or jeopardise the reputation or name of the Club
Park considerately and only in the Village Hall car park when permitted (notified via official SSJSC communication).
Never display or condone the use of inappropriate or abusive language, bullying, harassment, discrimination, physical violence, or conduct that may be construed as unethical. This includes all forms of communication -such as verbal, email, phone, and/or social media.
Always supervise their children both inside and outside the Club. (In the interest of the safety and comfort of all Club members and guests, please do not allow your children to run around the bar/lounge area or car park).
Pay fees for subscriptions and events promptly.
Not partake or induce others to partake in illicit drugs on the premises
Only smoke in designated areas
Support Committee Members in a positive and constructive way and be mindful that they are volunteers who donate their time and effort to ensure that the Club runs successfully.
Not ignore breaches of the Code of Conduct and report any concerns immediately to a member of the Club Committee.
On-line Code of Conduct for communications via social media
Any communications made by members through social media should not bring the Club, or its members into disrepute, for example by:
1) breaching confidentiality;
2) doing anything that could be considered discriminatory, bullying, or harassment of any individual; or
3) making misrepresentations relating to SSJSC, its activities, staff or Committee.
Any misconduct will be subject to the Club’s disciplinary procedures as details in the Club Rules.
Sanctions
Members and Guests who do not adhere to the Code of Conduct will be asked to modify their behaviour accordingly and/or may be asked to leave the Club. Any report of misconduct will be investigated by the Club Committee and dealt with in accordance with the Club Rules and may result in a verbal warning, written warning, suspension or termination of membership.
The Club Management Committee reserves the right to change or amend the Code of Conduct at their discretion. All changes will be publicised to members of the Club.
